About the Artist
Barbara Frankiewicz's artistic journey began in the vibrant cultural landscape of Kraków, where she developed her distinctive approach to contemporary painting. Her work explores the intersection of emotion and color, creating immersive experiences that transport viewers into magical, otherworldly realms.
With over two decades of artistic practice, Barbara has exhibited extensively across Europe and the United States. Her paintings are characterized by their luminous quality and the way they seem to pulse with inner life, drawing viewers into contemplative dialogue with the canvas.
Through my paintings, I aim to establish positive relationships with the viewer. My intention is for those engaging with my art to discover within themselves reserves of peace, tranquility, mental balance, and consequently, joy, a sense of significance in exploring their emotions and feelings. A painting encapsulates artist's accumulated energy, which is transmitted through colour, form, and composition. I value viewers without artistic or visual education, who claim not to understand contemporary art. I believe in the power of pure energetic communication. I avoid storytelling in my work. Abstractly treated by me, the paintings do not narrate tender stories but concern the structure of the universe. I ask questions about the nature of existence and the condition of the human psyche in this currently accelerated world. I aim to engage the viewer in my world of creation in a way that ensures mutual satisfaction in shaping reality as a safe world based on eternal values - truth and beauty.
I believe in the power of energetic expression in art — a force that connects my painting with the viewer. The works I approach abstractly explore the structure of the universe. I ask myself questions about the nature of existence and the condition of the human psyche. It is important to me to draw the viewer into my world of creation in a way that allows us to share a mutual sense of fulfillment in shaping reality as a safe space grounded in timeless spiritual values of truth and beauty. I also embrace works created from nature — landscape, still life, and portrait — which form the technical foundation of every professional artist.
Currently, I am experiencing a period in which the abstract mode of expressing my ideas fully reflects my interpretation of the world.

The artist began her formal art education at the Fine Arts High School in Katowice. She then continued her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, as well as at the Pontifical Academy of Theology in the Section of Sacred Art, where she later became an assistant. In 2012, she earned her PhD from the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków with a series of works inspired by the latest discoveries in quantum physics. That same year, she was awarded the Medal of the 100th Anniversary Salon of the Union of Polish Artists and Designers (ZPAP) by the Palace of Art in Kraków, along with other national painting awards. Her works are held in museums and international collections, including the Silesian Museum; the Archdiocesan Museum in Katowice; the Asia and Pacific Museum in Warsaw; the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw; the Book Art Museum in Łódź; the corporate collections of Philips in Poland and the Netherlands; Bayer Leverkusen; and Telekomunikacja Polska S.A. Since 2001, the artist’s work has been documented at the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
